Hadley's piece (and some of the possible followups we discussed in class) reminded me of the artist Sophie Calle. I first saw her piece "The Shadow" at the Geffen Contemporary in LA. Here is a link to the museum catalog entry for the piece; the clifnotes version is that she hired someone to follow her and take pictures of her for a day, but didn't specify what day it would happen, and then paired her own record of the day she was followed with the detective's photos and account. Her piece kind of looks like a science fair project as well :)
For another piece, "The Hotel," she got a job as a hotel maid and then invented the lives of the room's occupants based on their possessions (which she also photographed).
Anyway, her work reminded me of Hadley's piece in that it deals with knowing strangers (and the self as a stranger) through photography and text.
